CODE 2: Power, Loss & Shadow

The Good, Bad & Ugly of Human Nature

Everything that happens in our mind, comes in three very different shades. Just as in mixing paint, when you mix the pure color with white, you get a “tint.” And when you mix that original color with black, you get a “shade.” Our mind, and its 5 essential aspects (the 5 Ways of Power, come in three gradations as well. The original, dynamic and pure nature that we possess is called POWER. When we lose connection with that power, and live, think and feel in ints absence, this is LOSS. And when one moves into false, negative substitutes for that lost connection, this is SHADOW. This simple, elegant truth brings tremendous clarity and understanding to how we know ourselves and others. And provides a way to get back all our original purity and strengths.

THE TEN LAWS of POWER

Power is central to our real nature, and essential to any kind of happiness, peace or fulfillment in life. Yet it is one of the most misunderstood and mistaken concepts in our psychological vocabulary. The power we speak about has nothing to do with external power, or the false bravado or false promise of power that is on every street corner and in every TV commercial. Power is our natural birthright. It is the landscape and geography of Essence. (see Code 1—You: True and False). It is who we are before we become entangled, distanced and lost.
Once we understand Code 1, our very first job is to understand Power, Loss and Shadow. In the accompanying book, the Ten Laws of Power are explained and illustrated with real life examples, and especially using our modern cultural mythology—the movies. In this way, a very precise and practical understanding of our true strengths and inherent powers can be gained, as a first step to accessing our authentic self.

The 10 Laws of Power

1. Power is your birthright.
2. Power can’t be bought or sold
3. False power is not True power.
4. Power is known by its presence.
5. External Power is not internal power. 6. Power exists in a 5-fold pattern.
7. Power is subject to Loss
8. Power is tempted by Shadow.
9. Power can be regained from Loss & Shadow.
10. Power can never be destroyed.

The TEN LAWS of LOSS

Loss is the state of affairs when we are disconnected from our inherent power, our inner strengths. This happens for so many reasons, including psychological trauma, doubt, modeling the “lost” people around us, including parents, teachers and peers, and living in a culture of Loss. After all, with Loss, it would be very hard for those in Shadow to manipulate and control others. Loss is actually the basis of all psychological suffering, in all its different forms and permutations, pervading human life. And society fosters many levels of chronic Loss, both generally and individually, to keep us buying, and to promote conformity.

Understanding Loss is the beginning of the end of all these negative emotional states and a the first step in a return to Power. In the Ten Laws of Loss, we examine these principles and how they deeply effect daily life.

The 10 Laws of Loss

1. Losing access to our inherent Powers is Loss.
2. It is the basis of all weakness and despair.
3. Loss is experienced in a five-fold pattern.
4. Loss is the basis of gullibility and victimization.
5. Loss is seduced by False Power. 6. Loss tends towards Shadow.
7. Loss compensates for is pain.
8. Loss  hides under false masks.
9. Loss can be healed by regaining Power.
10. Loss is the basis of human manipulation.

THE TEN LAWS of SHADOW

Our natural, original state is Power; Disconnected from this we experience Loss; Not knowing how to get back to Power, one may generate a kind of false and negative substitute: Shadow. Avoiding the false feelings of pain and deficiency, in this distorted world Warrior becomes Bully, Leader becomes Dictator and Lover becomes Manipulator, and Guru becomes Charlatan. All harmful and even addictive behaviors have the basis in Shadow, which, like Loss and Power, come in five “flavors.” Knowing these 3 sets of possibilities, we have an incredible lens to see ourselves and others accurately.

In the Ten Laws of Shadow, we learn how we have been victimized by Shadow, and how we can prevent and protect ourselves. We also see who Shadow creeps in to our own psyche, and how it can be stopped on the spot before it begins its damage. And we find out how close Power really is, the ultimate cure for chronic Loss and Shadow both.

The 10 Laws of Shadow

1. Shadow is based on Loss.
2. Shadow comes in five precise varieties.
3. Shadow has “benefits” one one level.
4. Shadow is a false promise.
5. Shadow is progressive. 6. Shadow loves company.
7. Shadow hides from self & others.
8. Shadows loves shadow company.
9. Shadow preys on Loss.
10. Shadow only returns to power through Loss.
